This Is Our

Story…

Bissap Beverages is as rich in heritage is it is rich in flavour. Every purchase of a can of Bissap has a positive impact on the communities and societies we source our produce from. This is the story of where your can of Bissap originates.

It Begins With Roselle

Hibiscus Sabdariffa. Roselle. The Red Sorrel

Origins

Roselle grows in many parts of the world and is particularly prominent in the Caribbean, West and East Africa. The Roselle that’s cultivated for each can of our Bissap comes from the Dodoma region of Tanzania. Grown by small scale farmers, it is harvested for a brief period annually before being dried, stored and packaged. It then begins a journey of about 4000Kms to our processing plant and eventually into your glasses as a refreshing ice cold beverage.

Impact

Bissap Beverages works closely with the Dodoma Women in Agriculture and Business Initiatives (DWABI) to create sustainable opportunities for the farmers we source our produce form. The Roselle in your can of Bissap was farmed by a group of women farmers including Martha Mahwaya from Amani group Handali village and Leah Mwiyagalo (drying leaves in gallery) from Malkia wa Nguvu women group in Handali village both in Dodoma.
